M&M Week 3: I AM the Light of the World

Hello fellow M&Mers!

How is it going?  We're already in week 3... how is it going for you all?  Please share with us, we'd love to hear from you!

This week Barb talks about our verse, John 8:12 - "When Jesus spoke again to the people, he said, 'I am the light of the world. Whoever follows me will never walk in darkness, but will have the light of life.' ” I love when Barb says that even on our darkest day, even when we don't "feel like it", we are still light.  God has brought us out of the dominion of darkness and into His wonderful light... Isn't that beautiful?

This week we will study our next verse:

I AM THE GATE JOHN 10:9,10
I am the gate; whoever enters through me will be saved. He will come in and go out, and find pasture. The thief comes only to steal and kill and destroy; I have come that they may have life, and have it to the full.

M&M Week 2: I AM the bread of life

First week is behind us, how did your meditating and memorizing go?  I hope that it has been a time of rest and encouragement for all of you.  Please read the message from Barb, followed by next week's verse and your links to view or listen to our lesson.  Enjoy!

Hi ladies,
I trust the Lord is meeting you as you taste and savor the Bread of Life in His Word.  The words that come to mind which I need today are: Slow Down. Breathe. Eat Slowly. Open Your Hands.  Receive.  He is here.
Let's pray for each other as we fight the fight for joy in our God.

Love,
Barb

M&M "I AM" Series - Week #1

Welcome to Week 1 of M&M!  We are so glad you are here.  Are you ready to meditate on and memorize the great "I AM" verses from Jesus?  Here is a special note from Barb, followed by your first verse and quick links to the video/audio for our first lesson.  Love to you all!  Leslie
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Dear Ladies,
I am so happy that it's time to M&M again! Our first video series, By Faith, began last fall, as Dave and I were making the big move to Japan; and now, just last week, we celebrated our 6-month anniversary of being here! I can't believe that much time has passed!
Our new theme is RED M&Ms - THE I AM SERIES.  We will be meditating on 8 verses which are the words of Jesus Himself, about Himself.  He tells us who He is: the Bread of Life, the Light of the World, the Gate, the Good Shepherd, the Resurrection, the Way, Truth, and Life, the Vine, and the Alpha and Omega.  Jesus Himself invites us in Isaiah 55:2,3:  "Listen, listen to me, and eat what is good, and your soul will delight in the richest of fare.  Give ear and come to me; hear me, that your soul may live."
So, here we go on our new journey, my friends.  Remember M&M's life verse?
Your words were found, and I ate them,
 and  Your words became to me a joy and the delight of my heart, for I am called by Your name,
 O LORD, God of hosts.  Jeremiah 15:16 (ESV)
I'll be praying that as you Meditate on & Memorize His Word, you will taste and see for yourself that the Lord is good.  I trust Him to make His Word a joy to you and the delight of your heart, for you are called by His name.
To the King!  To the Kingdom!
Love,
Barb
Our first verse:
JOHN 6:35 - Then Jesus declared, “I am the bread of life. He who comes to me will never go hungry, and he who believes in me will never be thirsty.”
Week 11
Good evening ladies,
I'm sorry that this email is coming to you so late tonight, perhaps I just wanted to prolong our last week together. :)  It has been a wonderful semester M&Ming with you in this "new" way.  It is so wonderful to still be able to receive the warmth and encouragement of our dear Barb from so very far away.  Have you enjoyed meditating and memorizing on these verses?  Have they become "yours"?  I hope that they are hidden in your hearts forever, please continue to review them in the future so that they always stay "fresh"!
Do you have any comments or feedback for us from this semester?  Anything we could do better?  I know I've made my share of goofs.  We're learning as we go, so please feel free to share!
Speaking of goofs, here's the message from Barb that I leaked to you last week, even though it was intended for this week :)
Hi M&M sisters!
This is our last week together M&M-ing on "By Faith - Things Are Not What They Seem".  This week I share my thoughts as I looked back over the last eleven weeks.  Thank you so much for joining me on this venture!  It has been a privilege for me.  I know God will use His Word that you have hidden in your heart and it will keep on bearing fruit in your lives.  Remember, as we say about our language study here in Japan, "if you don't use it, you lose it"!  So read and review your verses regularly and listen to your CD occasionally.  I hope to M&M with you again in the near future!
Thanking God for you,
Barb
This week's verse:
Psalm 27:13,14 (NAS)
I would have despaired unless I had believed that I would see the goodness of the Lord in the land of the living. Wait for the Lord; be strong and let your heart take courage; yes, wait for the Lord.
Week 10
Good evening ladies,
Karen's memorial service is Thursday evening with the visitation from 5pm-6pm in Tomlin Hall and the service in the sanctuary from 6pm-7pm.  Candy has said that there will be a time for friends and family to speak and/or share stories if they would like, so if God puts it on your heart please feel free to share.
This has been a really tough week for me.  Two dear friends lost their fathers unexpectedly this week, and of course Karen's passing.  Combine that with your traditional chaos, stolen credit card number, etc and it can make one very weary.... But wow... what a verse.  Wow, what a God.  I've been weaker than ever this week, but God is just as strong as He ever was, and HIS power is seen more clearly in MY weakness.  Amazing.
This week's verse:
2 Corinthians 12:9,10
But he said to me, “My grace is sufficient for you, for my power is made perfect in weakness.” Therefore I will boast all the more gladly of my weaknesses, so that the power of Christ may rest upon me. For the sake of Christ, then, I am content with weaknesses, insults, hardships, persecutions, and calamities. For when I am weak, then I am strong.
