Want to know more about M&M?

Recently Barb's article about how God used a special dog, Nyack, to show His love during a battle of depression, was published in the "Women of the Harvest" newsletter.  It's a really special story, and if you haven't heard it yet, click here!

If you want to know more about M&M, we'd be happy to share more information with you.  M&M stands for "Meditate and Memorize".  Our focus is on taking bites of scripture, one verse per week, and chewing on it all week long.  We meditate on it, read it, write it, recite it, whatever it takes to bury that verse in our heart.  We do love memorizing, and think it is a good work indeed, but it is not a "requirement" to participate in M&M!  Simply focusing on each verse every week for a semester is a wonderful and beautiful thing.  Each week we add a new verse while we continue to chew on the verses from prior weeks.  By the end of the semester, all 12...or 13...or 14 verses (sometimes Barb gets spunky and adds extras!) become near and dear to us.

For several years, Barb's M&M ministry has grown.  It started with just 10 ladies in a room at Lexington Presbyterian Church, but now it has spread to over 130 women in various churches, various states, and various COUNTRIES around the world.  God's Word is spreading in a mighty way.  To Him be the glory!!!!  To the King!  To the KINGDOM! :)

If you'd like to participate in M&M online, contact us at mandmladies@gmail.com.  That's a great way to start- we can tell you anything you need to know!

We'd love for you to participate in our new upcoming season of M&M this fall "live" with the rest of us!  I will add you to our email list, and each week you'll get an email telling you this week's verse, a summary of the lesson, and any other information you may want to hear for the week.  This is a new adventure for us as Barb will be making VIDEOS of her lessons from Japan!  We'll put these videos on YouTube for your enjoyment, but will also release the audio in case you want to listen to it in your car or something.

If you're interested, we also have a facebook group.  Search for "Lexington Presbyterian Church - M&M" and request to join.

This is an exciting time for M&M and we really hope you will join us and be as encouraged as we are.  Contact me if you have any questions!  God Bless!!

Meditating in Japan

Good evening ladies,

What an answer to prayer, Barb and Dave safely arrived in Chiba, Japan!  Praise Him!  They are of course jet lagged, and therefore taking advantage of the "land of the rising sun" as they wake super early at 3 and 4 in the morning.

Barb shared with me a beautiful excerpt from her quiet time this morning.  You will definitely want to read this encouraging letter from Barb to the Lord!

"Let me never forget why we’re here: to glorify the King and serve Him and His people in His Kingdom.  Shout, proclaim, whisper, sing, teach the Good News in English or faltering Japanese...just get the Good News out!  Preach it to the unsaved, preach it to the saved, preach it to myself.  Love it, run in it, live out of it, dive into it, swim around in it, dwell deep in it.  Breathe it in, breathe it out. Meditate on His words, His ways.  Know Him, make Him known; talk to Him unceasingly, experience His presence.  Point to Him; gaze at Him, abide in Him, live out of Him, preach Him, not myself, not religion...CHRIST JESUS.  To the King!  To the Kingdom!  To the Restoration!
This is not just for missionaries in foreign lands!  It's for EVERY CHILD of His, wherever we live!  The geography doesn't matter!  Let us live for the King because we love Him...and we love Him because He first loved us.  Wow.  What a life!  Thank You, Lord."

Don't you love her heart for missions and the Kingdom?  May this be an encouragement to you today.  Please continue praying!  I know she misses all of you so much!

Last R&R M&M

Well ladies,

I've been in denial, I think, but our time with Barb for the summer has finally drawn to a close.  She will be heading to Pittsburgh on Saturday and then off to Japan August 11th-12th.  I'm so thankful that we are NOT saying "goodbye", as M&M will continue, and we will still see Barb's smiling face over the internet... how cool is that?  Praise!  Please continue to keep them in your prayers as they embark on this exciting journey, and please pray for God's hand to continue to be over the M&M ministry as well.

Here is the recording of the last class:  Click Here

Hope you had a wonderful summer!  My spamming will subside for a month or so... :)  Go ahead and add "mandmladies@gmail.com" to your address book, I think we will start using our own special account in the fall.

In Him,

Leslie

July 24th, 2012 - R&R M&M

Hey ladies!

Thanks to you who helped us by signing up for dropbox... a few folks signed up/installed the app (who didn't already have it) so we're heading in the right direction.  Video files are large so that's why we're hungry for space as Barb prepares for the move to Japan.  If you didn't sign up for and install dropbox yet, but want to help M&M get more space for free, use this link:  http://db.tt/QwapugKu

Barb's poor voice recorder ran out of juice during the middle of class last week- boo hoo!  You may hear it sort of cut off before we pick it back up with a "previously recorded episode" of Amanda and the Dragon. :)

Download this week's lesson if you missed it here:  July 24, 2012

SO many praises this week.  PRAISE that little Noah Werner was able to safely come home from the hospital!  PRAISE that the Bindewalds are now 100% supported and officially heading to Japan!  PRAISE our Heavenly Father for all He has done and continues to do.  Does anyone have any special stories regarding how any of our verses spoke to them over the past couple of weeks?  Share them with me so we can encourage one another in the word!

Please continue to pray for M&M as we're all a tizzy trying to get things figured out for the fall, and especially pray for Barb during this exciting but chaotic time!

Love to you all,

Leslie

Reminder- VBS Week!

Just a quick reminder-  We will be cancelling M&M classes this week since our VBS will be going on, so please make a note that there will be NO classes on Monday 7/16 or Tuesday 7/17, but we will resume the following week, July 23rd and 24th.

If you can, please consider helping with VBS in some way as it is a wonderful ministry to our next generation.  One of my dear friends (Jessica Ryan) became a Christian through a VBS way-back-when and oh how she loves the Lord now.

Could you, your spouse, your teenagers, your friends, etc. consider assisting with the set up or tear down?  It's an easy way to serve and many hands make light work! :)

Set up:  Saturday, July 14th, 8:30am (usually finishing up before lunchtime)
Tear down:  Saturday, July 21st, 8:30am (again, usually finishing before lunch)

Have a blessed week!

R&R M&M #5

Hey Ladies!

I hope you've had a wonderful week chewing on His Word.  We've been having a great time planning and praying for the future of M&M...thanks to all of you who were praying along with us.  Do any of you have any stories or "God Sightings" (as Barb calls them) from this week?  Please share with me if so- we'd love to encourage others through your experiences and/or anecdotes regarding how the Word was illuminated to you.

Without further adieu, I leave you with a link to this week's class!  Enjoy!

Blessings,

Leslie

R&R M&M Week 4

Good evening, ladies!

I hope you've had a wonderful week.  I want to share a quick anecdote with you. We've been going through a bit of a stressful time and I had asked Barb to pray for me as I found myself becoming a little "bitter" about a situation we had going on with a contractor and that my heart was being hardened.  Anyhow, the verse that really spoke to me in this particular situation is Isaiah 51:3-

"The Lord will surely comfort Zion and will look with compassion on all her ruins; he will make her deserts like Eden, her wastelands like the garden of the Lord.  Joy and gladness will be found in her, thanksgiving and the sound of singing".

My attitude in this situation has made my "walk" look like a wasteland or desert, but I do pray that God will restore my personal little wasteland to a garden like state because He is willing and able and would delight in doing so! To add to this, my heart melted when my little 19 month old little girl Emily started spontaneously singing (quite often this week) her version of "Holy Holy Holy".  Granted it sounds like "Ho-he, ho-he, ho-he" over and over again, but it really helped me put things in perspective in a lot of ways!  What a beautiful thing.  I pray that all of you have also found nuggets of God's wonderful goodness amidst any trials you may be going through.  M&M certainly helps with that as we chew on the delicious morsels of His Word!

Here's the link to this week's class. Did you get a chance to watch Barb's YouTube video?  Check it out if you missed my last email!

Love to you all!  Please pray for us as we'll be meeting this week regarding the future of M&M this week.  If you are interested in helping out with the M&M ministry in any way, please let us know.
